The main focus of the Physical Education program at Jim Stone is to promote life-long fitness. This is accomplished by introducing the students to a wide variety of games, activities and sports. Introduction of sports skills is offered early and those skills are built upon through the 4th grade. Social skills, such as good sportsmanship, are also emphasized. Each student at Jim Stone attends one sixty minute PE session per week.
Students are given the opportunity to attend a variety of field trips during their years at Jim Stone. They also participate in Jump Rope for Heart and another local community service project called The Turkey Trot that focuses on stocking local food pantries. Other programs offered are a Bike Safety Rodeo for second graders and a Fishing Derby during Turn-Off Electronics Week (formerly Turn-Off Your TV Week).
Mrs. Breashears has 24 years of teaching experience for Conway Public Schools. She also has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology.
